Saint James serves the people of Schuyler County and the wider world through various outreach programs. All are welcome to join us.
We offer Mann Hall as a safe and welcoming meeting place for many service organizations and support groups from our community.
A joint ministry with St. John's of Catharine, the Episcopal Women of Schuyler County serve and support ministries in our area, including the Barnie Parker Sharing Shed at St. John's through a community garden, the Schuyler Housing Opportunity Council through monetary contributions, and many other ministries. New members are always welcome.
Saint James' has been providing funds for the Friends of Bequia Hospital for seven consecutive years. In January 2026, St. James' Episcopal Church presented a $6,000 gift to support this much-needed ministry, along with a box of donated medical supplies.
This gift was made possible through a $5,000 international grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester NY, proceeds from St. James' fundraising efforts, and memorial gifts from friends and family — honoring Dr. Borzell's many years of service to the Schuyler County community.
Bequia is a 7-square-mile island just south of the capital island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, situated at 13 degrees north of the equator. With a population of 5,000 locals, the island's population doubles during tourist season. A Cuban-trained physician offers care at the hospital, clinics, and private office. The hospital — built with funds from Taiwan — has four small wards for men, women, pediatric cases, and maternity, and provides emergency care often followed by transfer to the capital island of St. Vincent.
Saint James also provides financial support to various local mission programs throughout Schuyler County and the surrounding area.
